THINGS TO DO IN AND AROUND LLANFAIRFECHAN

This page provides brief details about Llanfairfechan’s local attractions - but there’s so much to do, we can only mention a few...

Slide graphic For families:

Llanfairfechan grew up as a seaside resort, and it has a wonderful beach and promenade, with two excellent cafés where you can get everything from a packet of crisps to a full sit-down meal. There are two childrens’ playgrounds, one with a paddling pool, and the other with new skateboard ramps.

There are several pubs, cafés (take away and eat in) and a restaurant in the town. For those who prefer to self-cater, there are two supermarkets to buy your provisions from - no need to stock up before you travel! There is also a bank (HSBC), a library and a Post Office in the town.

Golf graphic For outdoors types:

Llanfairfechan is an excellent centre for those who enjoy walking, with walks to suit all ages and abilities. For golfers, there is a nine-hole course and a clubhouse to welcome visitors to the town, with other clubs nearby.

Add to these activities water sports , fishing and nature reserves (Llanfairfechan is excellent for bird-watching), and there is something for everyone.

Castle graphic For culture-vultures:

North Wales is steeped in history and culture, and Llanfairfechan is ideally placed to visit many interesting places. We are central to an area which includes many castles - the World Heritage sites of Caernarfon, Beaumaris and Conwy, plus Dolbadarn & Dolwyddelan, all of which can be reached with half an hour. Click here for more information on all of these historic castles...

Add to this the attractions of Penrhyn Castle, Plas Newydd and Bodnant Gardens, plus Gwydir Castle, Bangor’s beautiful cathedral and other attractions too many to list here, then Llanfairfechan is an ideal base to visit the many historical sites that the area has to offer.

There multi-screen cinemas in nearby Llandudno Junction and Bangor, and are excellent theatres in Llandudno and Bangor.

Shoppers can explore the large nearby shopping centres of Bangor and Llandudno. The nearest leisure centre is at Llandudno Junction, while Bangor has a swimming pool.
